The Makra Light GTX from HANWAG's Makra family is a flexible all-rounder at the perfect height for via ferratas and simple alpine tours. And it's very versatile too. Because shoes to see you safely over iron pins, rungs and rocky ledges must be particularly solid to withstand the constant load. At the same time, it must give the wearer a good "feel" for the terrain underfoot. And if it's going to be comfortable going up and down, it needs to be built on a well-cushioned base that promotes good rolling performance. But that's not all the semi-cutting Makra Light GTX can do. It's designed for mountain enthusiasts who appreciate the benefits of a low-cut model on the uphills but are unwilling to give up the extra stability a mid-cut design offers on the descents. By incorporating a special 2-zone lacing system with mechanical lace locking system, the upper is easily adapted to the demands of the terrain. Unlike conventional lace hooks, this mechanical lace lock will not slip once locked in place – it requires manual intervention to unlock it. This makes it possible to have tighter lacing at the ankle and more relaxed lacing in the upper part of the boot, for example for greater freedom of movement when going uphill or when climbing. On the downhills, the entire lacing can be locked down above the ankle as well, for greater stability. In addition to a flexible, adjustable upper, the Makra Light GTX also has an especially light, cushioning midsole that provides the stability required for demanding terrain.
