Your camping holiday is approaching!
Camping is truly a phenomenon where the expression "a beloved child has many names" fits perfectly! It's used to describe everything from pleasure-seekers who spend weeks in the same spot with full amenities, to those who pitch their tent in a new place every night during their holiday, and everything in between. Here, we try to clarify a few things you might need to consider if you're planning to go camping this summer!
Things to consider before your camping holiday
Choose a suitably sized tent
When planning a camping trip, you have the luxury of choosing a larger tent with plenty of space. For those who are on the move and might be pitching and taking down their tent every other day, it might be worth investing in a more compact and easy-to-pitch tent that takes up less space in your luggage. If you have children and plan to stay for a longer period at one or maximum two campsites, it might be worth investing in a tent with standing height and more space in both the sleeping area and living room.
What shouldn't you miss?
Don't forget your camping furniture! A packable table and comfortable chairs make it so much easier to enjoy your holiday. We have camping furniture that suits both long-stayers and those who want more portable comfort!
Lighting in the form of tent lanterns, flashlights, and headlamps can also add that little extra touch of luxury to your camping experience. When you're sitting and enjoying the evening, when you're reading tucked into your sleeping bag, or when nature calls, a lamp is a must!

How do you handle cooking?
There are many variations of camping stoves suitable for different situations. A classic is the Trangia storm cooker, which is portable and easy to use. There are stoves that run on both methylated spirits and gas. Gas cylinder standards can vary slightly around the world, so it's a good idea to bring some extra gas if you're using a gas stove.
Many campsites have prepared barbecue areas and cooking facilities, so if you're exclusively staying at such accommodations, all you need are practical plates, cutlery, and perhaps a good grilling stick!
What should you sleep on?
This depends heavily on where you are going for your camping holiday. If you are camping in Sweden or the Nordic countries, it is wise to prepare for potentially chilly nights, especially further north. If you are going to southern Europe, or if you are only going out in mid-summer, you can get by with a much thinner sleeping bag. Don't forget your sleeping mat either, and make sure you get one that can withstand some cold if you are going north or want to go out during spring or late summer.
