Prijon has worked with this material for many years. First up was the children's kayak Flipper in 2003.

The material is a disc consisting of several layers of plastic with an outer layer of UV stabilization. The disc is heated to approximately 80 degrees. The material is sucked out with a vacuum or pressed into molds for the upper and lower parts of the kayak. The plastic is then cooled and finally the upper and lower parts are joined together using a special molding and glue.

The advantages are many

One of its main advantages is that the material is strong and elastic. In fact, our first Flipper is still in our test fleet. Another is the environmental aspect; the material is largely reused and the substance epoxy resin is only used when joining the upper and lower part. The kayak is 10-20% lighter than normal plastic kayaks. The plastic has a more uniform quality and thickness with a glossy and appealing surface. Disadvantages: The kayak must be joined together as it is made in two parts.
